As a dancing mom, I am required to drive my child across the country to participate in dance competitions in order to achieve his very big goals. Because of this I am constantly looking for cute, quaint accommodation. This weekend (28 August 2021) we were in the town of Bloemfontein situated in the Free State. Madelein, our kids and I stayed on a working sheep farm called Elandsbult. Oom Braam and his wife have an attractive self catering 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom granny flat. I loved how they paid attention to detail in their decor as well as the functionality of the area. Dish-washing liquid, sponge, coffee, tea and sugar were all provided. Oom Braam was kind enough to give us a gas heater as it was freezing cold. He was so accommodating and helped us whenever we needed assistance. The bathrooms are super clean and have really nice finishes. They supplied hand soap as well as soap for the shower. The on-suite bathroom has a lovely deep bath for a relaxing soak, whereas the 2nd bathroom has a spacious shower. Lounge, dining area, braai/fireplace area and kitchen are open plan making it very family friendly. The lounge is equipped with a flat TV, full DSTV and undoubtedly the most comfy couches. My only critique is that there is no oven. Lucky for us, Madelein is creative enough to cook a roast beef in an electronic frying pan😂 and the fireplace makes the whole unit smell like a bonfire. Overall, we had a pleasing stay and definitely a place I would visit again. I give them a 4 out of 5. Find them on air bnb.
